Radiation hazards continue to be a significant occupational and public health concern in the Pacific Northwest. Environmental Health and Safety practitioners are often asked to answer fundamental technical questions about radiation, as well as about more complex issues, such as hazards at nuclear waste sites, UV exposures, and health risks from cell phone towers and power lines.

The first day of training will focus on non-ionizing radiation with additional content on current research and emerging topics such as cell towers and UV. The second day will focus on ionizing radiation with industry case studies and emergency planning.

FEATURED SPEAKER: Andrew Thatcher, MSHP, CHP, Principal Consultant, Lisa Thatcher, Inc.

Andrew Thatcher is a former naval nuclear engineer, board certified health physicist, and public health professional with over 30 years of experience in the evaluation of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation exposures. He holds a master's in health physics, and has worked for both government as well as commercial interests.
